Our Mission
BASUC is at the forefront of fostering an environment that serves Black people boldly. We are disruptors, advocating for legislative changes that create a paradigm shift in addressing substance use. Our plan is not just a document but a living, breathing force for change, providing trauma-informed care, prioritizing brain health, and acknowledging the impact of neural pathways on addiction. BASUC strives to bridge these gaps by tailoring strategies to the specific needs of the African American community, ensuring that interventions are culturally competent and sensitive. Through collaboration with stakeholders, healthcare professionals, African American led non-profits, and community leaders, BASUC endeavors to create a cohesive and sustainable approach to combat substance abuse and its detrimental effects on African Americans who live and play in Colorado.
